Applause From Loneliness

That blurry childhood
that I can't recall
Flipping through old calendars
wondering where the time went
Every photograph
in my mother's book
I always looked the same
The same damn facade
Just a little yellow songbird
in disguise
All those years
My greatest friend
was named Loneliness
He applauds me now
because I've made it through this life
Found the hidden finish line
His arms open wide
Those baby blue eyes
Green pools glistening
No more sad lines
in that songbird's face
The sound of happiness
ringing loud and clear
How I love it's tune
Stay with me this time
